Some very kind words from my old teacher Steve Bissette:
My copy of DEBBIE #1 arrived yesterday, and sweetened a rough day immeasurably. Dane Martin’s comix have an uncanny ability to take me into an absolutely unique universe that reconfigures my gray matter for the duration of my time with Dane’s art, dialogue, stories, emotional spaces—and that, my friends, is what art should do. It’s a slim 12 pages, but I’ve returned to it three times since first reading it, and it has prompted me to dig out my stash of Dane’s work and revisit it all.
Highly recommended, and instantly one of my favorite comix of 2014, come what else may.
I probably wouldn’t still be drawing comics without Steve and the rest of the CCS faculty.
